You should update your antivirus app.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I use Spybot S&D which keeps the PC very clean. Could that be the shutdown problem? I can open up regular doom 3 sites at the open coop Doom page but not any of the sites that have coop as game type. I also seem to be very slow as compared to other players even with low ping say 30. I have a 6 year old stock Dell XPS,
Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, Sound Blaster, Radon 9800 and Roadruner Cable at 1.5 download and 0.5 upload. I do not know that much about PCs but would like to find out if a change of one or all would help the speed problem. I really do not like being killed by someone that tells me he is 77 years old Smile. Need a fighting chance. Any advice or info on places to go and read would be helpful.

Regards,

Barry

Spybot S&D isn't an antivirus software. You should also use something like F-Secure, Norton, Antivir, Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials. There are many different kinds out there. Some you need to buy, some are free.

In addition to that, a firewall is good to have. That you can have as hardware or software. In some cases it's bundled with the antivirus software but not always.

In what way does that speed problem occur? Is it something like occational lagging or freezing or is it just that people keep beating you? The first one can be a fault in the connection or pc, the latter just lack of skills for which the solution is practice.
